This harness plugs directly in-line between your body harness(es) and headlight connector. Its purpose is to relocate the DRL function on these model Subarus and move its function to the parking light circuit. No cutting/splicing needed. Your high beam will still function normally when using your low and high beams at night.
BASE/PREMIUM/CROSSTREK SPORT MODELS W/ HALOGEN DRL: Your original high beam bulb operates as both high beam, and as DRL at partial power. The ECU of your Subaru uses PWM power to dim the bulb - our harness includes a relay and anti-flicker module to smooth this signal and relocate it instead to the parking light circuit. If you have your original headlights, your side marker bulbs and dim filament of the turn signal bulb will illuminate as DRL. If you have one of our retrofit packages, any white LEDs that are currently activated by the parking light switch will now also operate as DRL. If you have one of our Limited conversions, the C light and any other LED accessories on your parking light circuit will now operate as DRL.
SPORT MODEL W/ BUMPER LED DRL (IMPREZA ONLY): Your bumper is equipped with LED modules in the lower bumper that operate as DRL (not fog lights, Impreza only). Our harness integrates the signal from this circuit into your parking light circuit, and also allows signal backfeed so that the bumper LEDs stay on with your headlights too. If you have one of our retrofit packages, any white LEDs that are currently activated by the parking light switch will now also operate as DRL along with the bumper LEDs. If you have one of our Limited conversions, the C light and any other LED accessories on your parking light circuit will now operate as DRL along with the bumper LEDs. Note: Using this harness to move the DRL to your headlights will also allow you to remove the OEM DRLs and install a separate fog light kit in their place if you wish.
With either harness, any accent lighting that originally ran on the parking light circuit will now operate as your daytime running light, and remain on with the parking lights/low beams as normal. Make sure you select the harness that matches what your vehicle originally came with from the factory as the wiring systems are different between DRL types. Not compatible with Canadian type vehicles which use the low beam as DRL rather than high beam.
